The vital mineral magnesium is a true all-rounder: in our cells, it is responsible for activating a multitude of approximately 300 enzymes and carrier proteins, which in turn is essential for muscle and nerve functions, balancing blood-glucose levels and for regulating blood pressure.1 Due to modern diets and depletion in arable land, our bodies no longer consume as much magnesium as would be healthy: a study by the World Health Organisation determined as early as 2006 that a large proportion of the population are affected by a magnesium deficiency. The VERA nutrition study places a figure on this in Germany of up to 40 percent. The consequences of a deficient supply of this vital mineral are not to be underestimated: people with a magnesium deficiency are at risk of calf muscle cramps and, in the worst case, cardiac rhythm irregularities.
To remain fit and healthy, many people resort to magnesium tablets. In Germany, however - according to experts from the Consumer Advice Centre and the latest study published in October 2016 - these often contain more than the daily dose of magnesium recommended by the DGE (German Agency for Nutrition).

Greater water safety, better taste and vitality
With the BWT Magnesium Mineralizer from the Austrian water technology company, magnesium can be consumed via drinking water in small doses spread over the day very easily and cost-effectively. Less chlorine – more magnesium: the BWT Magnesium Mineralizer

The BWT Magnesium Mineralizer works in two steps: in the first step, it reduces the amount of substances impairing taste and smell, such as chlorine, but also, more importantly, organic compounds such as herbicides and pesticides. In the second step, it reduces any heavy metals such as lead, copper, nickel or cobalt which may have found their way into the water via (old) water pipes and replaces the hardener mineral, calcium, with essential magnesium. A practical side effect: household appliances are also protected against the build up of limescale, thus increasing their service life.
