Worldwide, the daily water consumption of households varies greatly. While in an industrial country, e.g. Australia, it is very high at 282 litres, it only stands at around 13 litres in poorer regions, e.g. in Ethiopia, where water must be carried home and be bought expensively.
In industrial countries, consumed water quantity also includes the water for washing cars, for the irrigation of gardens and parks and water for pools. In non-industrial countries, the water used in agriculture is included. One household in industrial countries consumes between 150 – 800 litres daily.
