Merely 0.649 % of all water supplies can be used as drinking water!
Therefore we work daily to develop innovative solutions for the treatment of 98.5 % of the water in existence worldwide, which corresponds to 1.32 billion km³. From salt water, ground water and surface water our systems create drinking, mineralised, processed, pure and ultrapure water.
When viewing the earth from outer space, we see a breathtaking view: 75 % of our planet is covered with water – in liquid, gaseous or frozen form. This vital element distinguishes the earth from all other planets in our solar system. This apparent surplus is, however, deceptive. About 97 % of the Earth’s water supplies are salt water. A considerable proportion of the fresh water resources are trapped in the ice caps of the poles and glaciers. Only 0.8 % of the worldwide water is available as drinking water in the form of surface water, e.g. rivers, lakes and ground water.
